For those of you unable to attend CYM on 9th April, I am happy to say that two very appreciative audiences enjoyed the concerts given by the ensembles and choirs of CYM. The audiences were entertained with a wide ranging selection of music from Bach through the Beatles to Blowing Bubbles with a hefty dose of musical thrown in by the students from I Can Sing!, not to mention all the elephants and hippopotami...! The theatre was bursting at the seams with the audience for the first concert. It was lovely to hear everyone singing – the Reds stood out with their obvious energy and enjoyment, the Yellows performed their song and the concert marked the debut of our new Parents’ Choir. If you feel brave enough to get involved in singing, come and join our Parents’ Choir - they rehearse at 9.30 in room B123…
Later, the Greens and Blues showcased their ensemble singing and playing and even a performance of some of their work in GM. Once again the brass players stood out, with some wonderful individual playing in Green Ensemble and Blue orchestra as well as the highlight of the day for me, which was our new brass ensemble’s fine rendition of I’m forever blowing bubbles under Michael’s direction.
This term we’ll be on the lookout for students whose efforts are outstanding … in practice, attendance and punctuality as well as outstanding achievements in grade exams and performances.
We will be forming a student committee this term, so watch out for details.
Dates for your diary are: Informal concerts on 21st May and 2nd July, and end of term concert on 16th July.
Enjoy the bank holiday and we’ll see you on 7th May!
